ROSWITHA CARRUTHERS

Picture
WALKS & TOURS CO-ORDINATOR
Rosie was born in Port Talbot and has lived here for most of her life. She spent 2 years living in London in her early 20's and later lived in Edinburgh for 2 years and latterly in Somerset, here she was made secretary of North Perrot Cricket club and also helped on Saturdays to make the cricket teas, worked behind the bar and at special events – on a voluntary basis.

For most of her working life she has been a secondary school teacher and college lecturer, she did her training at Swansea College. From 1988 to retirement was a lecturer at Neath Port Talbot College, Margam.

Rosie has been a visitor to Margam Park over the years as soon as it was opened to the public and enjoying everything it has to offer. She joined Friends of Margam in the summer of 2019 and participated in many of the events and activities on offer to the visitors from the Friends of Margam Park.  However due to the pandemic events had to be curtailed and the park closed. She is an NHS volunteer and has been volunteering in the vaccination centre at the Orangery since March 2021.

One of her hobbies is painting and she has belonged to an Art group which meets weekly and has been painting for over 10 years.

Having a great passion for history she was immediately drawn to the history of the Castle and the Talbot family, so she naturally fell into the role as a tour guide to the public. Unfortunately, again due to the pandemic tours have not been operational for some time but are now running again but only outside the castle due to repairs being carried out on the inside.

Rosie is committed to volunteering at Margam Park and hopes to see the Organisation develop and grow as an asset to the Park and the community..
