Born in Liverpool Doreen moved to Port Talbot in 1974 Worked in a comprehensive school for 20 yrs doing various jobs and retired after numerous roles, including a Reprographics assistant, Library assistant and an Invigilator. She has met and supported the Founders of 2 charities in Sri Lanka and Uganda for many years. She was encouraged to join The Friends of Margam Park 5 yrs ago and since then she has taken an NVQ course in Customer Service which she believes is a great help to her when dealing with the visitors to Margam Park . Doreen is team leader for the children's activities section, which is very successful throughout the year . Her main ambition is to keep a Clean and Healthy environment in the park for visitors. She arranges Litter picks on a daily basis and organises a group to deep clean the children's play area every year. Her passion is so great for the environment that she has appeared on Iolo Williams Welsh parks where she was interviewed and starred in the BBC One hit show. She is a reliable organiser and gives 101% to any project she is involved with. She mentors youngsters volunteering as part of their Duke Of Edinburgh Award and hopes to go forward by visiting schools to bring the young generation into the Friends Of Margam Park. Doreen ensures continuous development to provide an enjoyable experience for all visitors
